Congratulations to the GHS WYSE Academic Team!! Glenwood won first place on March 4 at the sectional competition at Illinois College. Glenwood will now compete in the state finals at the University of Illinois. Congratulations to the team and to the following students: Luke Mittelsteadt - 1st physics; Kaitlyn Fleigle - 2nd physics, 3rd math; Jeff Nie - 2nd physics; Drew Costic - 3rd physics; Stephanie Chou -1st chemistry, 2nd biology; Lauren Taylor - 3rd chemistry; Thara Nallamothu - 1st biology; and Kate Lytchakov - 3rd biology.
The Third Annual Parade of Pigs event is just around the corner! Parade of Pigs is a BCEF fundraising event aimed to help enrich the creativity and innovative potential of our students. Specially painted ceramic piggy banks will first be unveiled at the District's Celebration of the Visual Arts show at 1 p.m., March 9 at GIS. They will then reside at sponsoring businesses, and in all our schools, to collect money until May 19. On Friday, May 30 the banks themselves will be auctioned at a cookout on the patio at Island Bay Yacht Club. Monies raised will help fund each school's Fine Arts Department.
Titan Wear Fundraiser
The Class of 2016 is trying to raise money for Prom and their senior picnic. To help with that effort, they are selling TITANS ¼ zips and sweatpants. If you'd like to help, click here for the order form!
GHS Accomplishment Acknowledged with Out of the Blue Surprise
On Wednesday, February 26, Glenwood High School students and staff were surprised with popcorn during the lunch hours. GHS office referral data showed that tardies were down for the month of February. As such, the GHS Out of the Blue Team decided to acknowledge this achievement with complementary popcorn. An announcement regarding the surprise was made at the beginning of 3rd. Following the announcement, tickets were handed out which could be turned in for a bag of popcorn during lunch. GHS is proud of its students and their efforts to get to class on time, and encourage all to keep up the good work!
Key Club Trivia Night
Think you’re a master at trivia?! Key Club invites you to grab a group of 6-10 people and head to Glenwood High School on Friday, March 28. The fun will begin at 7 p.m. and end around 9 p.m. The price per person is $10. All money will be donated to Feed My Starving Children. The goal for this year’s event is to raise $1,485 in order to feed 25 school children for an entire year. For more information on the charity go to www.fmsc.org. In addition, mulligans will be available for $2, a silent auction will take place, and we will also provide refreshments! Come join the fun and support a good cause. Calendar for 2014-15 Approved
At the Board of Education meeting February 24, trustees voted to approve the 2014-15 Official School Calendar. The first day of school for students is August 20, and the last day (tentative) is May 28. School Improvement Days have not yet been determined. Click here for the 2014-15 calendar.

Prom Dress Donations Sought
Glenwood High School is accepting donations now for gently used prom dresses in all sizes. Dresses can be dropped off in Office 1 at GHS. They will be available to any GHS student at no cost and may be picked up in the nurse’s office at GHS. Delivery is also an option.
